In the hustle and bustle of the holiday itself, followed close betimes by our excusing ourselves on a lengthy trans-state journey, I've had no time to type out any words regarding our very happy Christmas celebrations.
This year we spent Christmas Eve with the Mootharts. We enjoyed the hospitality of Gabe, Emily and their boys, and the wonderful traditional cheese fondue of Libby's mother while cheering each other with presents and the Christmas story. In short - I borrow the words from Dicken's Mr. Micawber - we made very merry. Pictures can be found here: Christmas Eve 08.
Immediately following this happy time of celebration, we betook ourselves to our church to celebrate Christ's incarnation through the beautiful midnight Mass. This is always a highlight of the season and the year for me.
The next day Libby and I exchanged our humble gifts and had a hearty breakfast of blueberry muffins, eggs, bacon and orange juice! It was wonderful. Libby got me an apron so that I can cook and clean in the morning in my work clothes, and I got her a Sleeping Beauty DVD.
We then returned to our car and went to my parents' house. There we celebrated Christmas, yet again, through the exchanging of gifts and the breaking of bread together. We had ham, scalloped potatoes, and everything else you could hope in a Christmas feast; chased by traditional sweet morsels representative of the seasonal spirit. We then opened presents from and to each other. Pictures, again, are at Flickr. You can see them here: Christmas 08.
When we got home we packed all of our things and went to bed so we could get on the road early the next morning.
