As Hannah turns two and her language is taking off, I just wanted to note some of Hannah's special words for posterity before I forget them:
1. "Dep" pronounced "dehp" and it means sleep. This word was one of her first. Originally, she used it with the sign for sleep, but now she just says it for sleep. She has started occasionally using a word that sounds more like sleep.
2. "Sisi" is small. One of my favorites. Pronounced see-see but the consonant sound is a little flexible and can be more like tsee-tsee or tee-tee/see-tee/tee-see.
3. "Titi fop!" is "over the top," which is a game where I put her over my shoulders and then back on the other side of my head. This was a real head scratcher for a few days before context clarified the request.
4. "Iii!" was her first word for dinosaur. It started as just a roar, but I could hear the consonant sound clarifying as the months went by. The other day she said dinosaur for the first time, so the need to remember these words is pressing!
5. "Boo" for blue. "Boo eyes"
6. "Nee" for green. She has pretty much moved past this one.
7. "yeh-yeh" for yellow. Pretty standard little kid word.
8. Right now, I'm really appreciating her phrases. She's replaced "yes" or "yeah" (yeah was her first affirmative) with "Yes, I sink so." She uses this all the time. This morning, Andrew asked Hannah if she knew how shots could be good if they hurt, and she answered, "Yes, I sink so."
9. Her grammar is still developing. Right now if she wants you to read to her, she'll say, "Daddy (or Dada) wead book ME" with a strong emphasis on the me to make up for the lack of preposition.
It's interesting that Andrew still uses Dada and Mama exclusively, but Hannah uses both Dada and Mama and Daddy and Mommy.
10. "Bye" was her first word for butterfly. It's developed to be two syllables, so it's currently, "Byebye."
11. She knows all of the PAW Patrol pups' names, and has since late June or early July. Most of them are pretty clear and clarifying, but Marshall is "Wahwah" still. Rubble is "Wubba". Sky(e?) is still "Ky". Early on I needed to hear the colors to know which pup she was talking about, and she used to say "Boo Tase" for Chase and "Pink Kye!" for Skye, etc.
