One of the reasons we bought the camera that we bought is that it's a really cheap way to take decent pictures of birds. It's not going to produce professional quality images, but we don't really need professional quality images. Professional images, after all, cost professional prices. We were able to skip on that, and I'm still content with our results. I've started a photo album with the pictures we've taken of birds in the last couple of days:

On the topic of birds, recent discoveries in Arizona are tantalizing. Recent rarities there include:
Crescent-chested Warbler, Northern Jacana, and a (probable) male Eared Quetzal. These are all Mexican birds only rarely seen in the United States. It's almost enough to make one think about moving there! It's also enough to consider a road trip, but we'll see how long they stick around. I'm not too hopeful for the warbler and the quetzal, but the Jacana may linger for quite awhile.
