This brings new information to the French/Russian resistance to an Iraqi war. I read another article recently fingering bank accounts closely related to Chirac himself as being part of this oil-for-food scandal.

The U.N., being a group full of people, is destined to have many other scandals beyond this one. People sin. They do wrong things. And thus they must be held accountable. Any organization of people without accountability shouldn't be trusted. That's one of the US's main objections to the world court that we won't take part in, and it's a good one. Laws limit people's sinful potential, but the executors of the law must not be above it.
