Oh-ho, the coolness of it all!

So, on Friday night my roommate Phil Hagelberg asked his girlfriend of two years, Alisha Broach, to marry him. And, unworthy as he is, she condescended graciously and overwhelmingly happily to say yes! He is a lucky guy.

It made for an exciting day, and it really was sort of Christmas-ish. There was such a to-do, helping him get things ready for the night, and then preparing a small celebration at our apartment for the two when they came home. And it was all a lot of work for a little bit of time of really happy people, beaming and lots of laughing and smiling and togetherness, to subside at 1:00 and after into three college age guys lounging on couches and dubiously eyeing a tremendous pile of litter spread about a coffee table and the floor, and all-in-all a little overwhelmed by it all. So we didn't go to bed until long after 2, but we didn't get much cleaned up either. I think that's sort of one of those really good community moments. Eyeing the same thing together and thinking the same thing.

I also have begun to smell wood fires in the evenings, despite it being so hot recently! Smells and sometimes feels like Fall. So hurrah for the changing of the seasons.
