Word for the day: Feudalism

I read about feudalism today, so that's my word for the day. In the period post collapse of the 'Abassid Caliphate of Baghdad, and the decentralizing authority that came with the invasion of the nomadic inner Asian tribes like the Suljuq Turks there was a period of semi-feudalism within Islamic society. But it wasn't really feudalism.

Feudalism is based actually on an agreement between a Lord and a Vassal. This agreement is strictly a military agreement. I agree to support you and you agree to protect me. The economic structure that comes with it is referred to as manorialism.

The social system that developed in the Middle East was actually a slave soldier system, wherein the agreement was not a substitute for a central government, but an outgrowth of it. And the iqtas actually were owned by the ruler, and the person who worked them got the tax revenue from it. Isn't that interesting?

So yay for history!

Uh...

Yeah....

We got new Nintendo games today from Brian Nick! We got one called Gotcha, and it's cool because it uses the duck hunt gun. So my natural talent will have another outlet. I will be the king of Gotcha, as well.
